Hello!
Welcome to the Garage Interviews, here we will meet some of the most unexpected Heroes in our country. My name is unnie, and I will be your journalist for today.
Today we have the pleasure to talk to SiaFurler.
- Hi there! Could you tell us your name and when you started playing Hero Zero, and on what server(s)?
Hello! My name is SiaFurler and i started playing on the 12th of April 2012, on UK1.
- How did you start playing Hero Zero? Advertisements, maybe because of a friends recommendation?
I saw the advertisement banner at a website. Since the game was also available in German, I thought it might be a good opportunity to improve my own German. However, in a few minutes I realized the text in the game was well written in English too, and had a nice sense of humor. I didn't want to miss that with my poor German so I chose a server in the English language.
- Do you remember the day you started playing Hero Zero?
Yes - I was highly bored and procrastinating from work.
- Where does your pseudonym a.k.a. nickname originate from?
It’s from an Australian musician named
Sia Furler. It’s basically because my hero looks like her and I’m also a fan of her work. Although after all this time, I still feel weird whenever people call me "
Sia". For me, Hero Zero is more like an old "
tamagotchi" -game - but in this case my pet is a super cool hero instead.
- What do you like the most of - in the game, and on the other hand, what would you say you'd like the least?
My favorite part which kept me in the game was the creative writing and also the creativity of the in game objects and their design.
The part that I like the least about the game is, that the game takes too much time. I'm not against playing long term but the daily tasks/activities takes too much time, and yes I’m aware that I don’t have to do ALL of the tasks but… who can resist the urge to finish everything?
- What is the most successful thing you have in Hero Zero?
My team, of course. I’m proud to be a part of a long-lasting "drama-free" team; Almost Avengers.
- Do you want to achieve something specific, in your career as a hero?
Yes! I want to finish all the deeds!
- You are one of the top players of Hero Zero, Server UK1. What is the secret of your success?
Hmm… Playing everyday, and doing all my heroic homework!
- How does it feel to be the leader of the currently #2 -team on the entire server? Is it easy, or as hard as one might imagine?
Oh it’s definitely not an easy task but I’m getting used to it. I took over the team a while ago from my lovely friendsStitch and Arcadia. I am still trying to figure out the expectations of a team leader, and how to keep the team in a positive mood with a non-competitive casual attitude.
- Is there any special moment in your career as a hero you would like to share with us?
It was the time when Arcadia offered me to be an advisor, because at that moment I realized that I had been playing the game regularly, reporting to our fights, increasing my stats and that these efforts had been seen by someone else, too.
- Have there been any moments when you thought of quitting the game? What made you go on?
Yes! Many times. I’m sure many of us have had these thoughts when encountering new impossible things like deeds And mainly for job-related changes in my real life, I had to reconsider continuing the game, but I somehow always found time for my hero.
- What is the most strange, funny or in your opinion the best name you have named a pet? You may also tell us if you think somebody else has named their pet in some funny and/or good way.
Good question! But I never named my pet. I still have many Bandits and Oscars.
- What's your favorite sidekick, and what are your favorite abilities for it?
My cat with the ability; "cheating death" is definitely my favorite - he saves me from toughest fights!
- Have you convinced someone IRL to start playing Hero Zero? If so, then who? (friend, grandmother or neighbor perhaps..?)
Yes and no. I dragged my sister to the world of Hero Zero, but she only helps me improving my hero. Especially with buying donuts for me.
- In Hero Zero, friendships are very important. You probably have a lot of friends in the game. Who are your closest friends and how did you meet them?
I’ve met all my in-game friends through my team Almost Avengers. A few names I can mention are Arcadia, Stitch,Intefina, Wonderrika, Amritea, jouls and May.
- Is there any player you look up to, that you admire? And if so, who is it and why?
I trust Arcadia a lot. I think she is a good example of balancing the game with real life. And she always has a positive attitude
- Which of your opponents do you respect the most, and who, in your opinion, is the best player on this particular server?
I’m really not a competitive person, so I don’t look for the best or the worst really, but of course every member of our team - Almost Avengers - are the best on this server.
- A lot of suggestions have been made by the players in order to make the game better. As an experienced player, your opinion is especially important to us. So, if you could only pick one, which of the suggestions that have been made would you choose to be implemented in to the game?
Ah, tough question - but I would definitely hire myself as a designer, since I’m an awesome graphic designer!
However, my real suggestion would be to make an arrangement to the deeds that can only be finished with donuts. Let's say there should be a way of finishing them like clicking more or spending more hours in the game or something. Deeds should not only be completed just by buying donuts, HZ should give an option to the ones who are unable to buy donuts very much, and just use the one that the game is offering, for free.
- Do you use the Forum? If not, is there any particular reason for that?
Nope. I used to check the forums of few servers for the ultimate deed list, but I don’t see much activity in our server forum. So I don’t feel like using it, and even if the forum was crowded I would probably only read it without writing - just to get information.
- What is your advice to newbies?
Don’t waste your donuts - and be nice to people!
Thank you SiaFurler, on behalf of the staff of HZ, for a great interview, and your extremely fine answers! I am sure there's plenty of admirers for you out there already. Good luck in the future!
